What is Joshua’s law?

Named after Joshua Brown, a state law enacted in 2007. Joshua Brown died in a car accident in 2003.  Joshua’s parents joined with legislators to put stronger driver training laws into effect.  The result was The Teenage and Adult Driver Responsibility Act (TADRA), a law that requires teens get specific driving experience and instruction before obtaining licensing beyond the learner permit.

According to Georgia Dept of Driver Services: 

You must complete an approved driver education course with a certified private or public driver training school using one of the following methods. Approved classes are also offered online.  You must also complete each item in the method you choose.

How to satisfy Joshua’s law requirement?

Method 1:

30 hour classroom instruction at an approved DDS driving school plus 6 hours of behind the wheel training at an approved DDS school plus 40 hours of driving with a parent

Method 2: 

30 Hours classroom instruction at an approved DDS school, and completion of the Parent Teen Driving Guide.

Method 3:

DDS approved school online course (30 hours virtual) plus 6 hours of behind the wheel training at an approved DDS school, plus 40 hours of supervised driving with a parent.

Method 4: 

DDS approved online course (30 hours virtual) plus completion of the Parent Teen Driving Guide (includes 40 hours of supervised driving with a parent. 

We are currently offering Methods 3 &4 during the winter, spring and fall and will offer methods 1 &2 each summer! 

Pricing:

Methods 1: 30 hour classroom (virtual or in person) + 6 hours of Behind The wheel =575.00

Method 2: 30 Hour classroom (virtual or in person) + (you will be responsible)  parent teen guide = 175.00 per student 

Methods 3: Online Joshua’s Law class $69.00 + 6 hours of behind the wheel training = 550.00

Method 4: 69.00 (you will be responsible for completing the parent teen driving guide)
